Weekly gratitude post #1.

I have been seeing gratitude lists everywhere for the past few months and I think they are rather fantastic. To me, they represent a good exercise in how to look for the nice things in life, no matter what the current situation is. So I’ve decided to give it a go. I’ll try to always post them on Sunday for one simple reason: to brighten the day up a bit. I mean, almost no one likes Sundays, it is such an underdog of a day. And I want to challenge that notion.

This week I’m grateful for:

1. Those beautiful flowers I got from my student/friend, for no reason at all.

2. That I have managed to put together my timetable for the upcoming academic year and that it’s looking pretty good! I start teaching at 6 am every day (and I am NOT a morning person) BUT I have got enough work and that’s what matters. It can be really stressful to be self-employed and I’m always so grateful when things work out quickly and smoothly.

3. Being able to enjoy some quality time outside with Eda. She just looks so happy prancing around the park!

4. Some very long and personal messages from my closest friend. I can’t believe we’ve known each other for 11 years now. I am no longer afraid that we’ll ever lose touch. We have changed somewhat, we have grown; we don’t live together in our tiny campus flat anymore; in fact, we live very very far apart. And I do miss her every day. But the distance really does not matter in the end. We’re still on exactly the same wavelength. We are connected forever. And I am so lucky to have her in my life.

What about you? What have you been grateful for this week?
